Mark Rothko

One of my favorite painters is Mark Rothko, because he was after something very simple. He wanted to capture human emotion. He wasn’t necessarily after abstraction just emotion. Enjoy this BBC documentary on the man and maybe you’ll get at why I love his work so much. Also if ever in D.C. stop by the National Art Gallery where there are 15ft Rothko’s in the basement level of the modern wing. You’ll find it hard to stand after walking in to a room full with Rothko.
