Don’t Stop til You Get Enough

June 26th, 2009 by J. Celestino

I was listening to Off the Wall two nights ago thinking about remixing it with something for a gig I’m dj’ing tonight. Then to my horror MJ dies the very following day. It’s rare that I put on a Michael Jackson album but I own all of them up to History so it was strange when I heard the news. A coincidence by all means but the 10yr old boy in me wants to put some part of the blame on myself. Not sure why that is. Then the more awful thought came into my mind, I can’t play a remix tonight. It would be too cliche. *sigh*

Thanks for the music Michael.

2nd Chair

February 5th, 2009 by J. Celestino

I always thought it would be awful being 2nd chair at any instrument in the orchestra. Then again you don’t have to worry about messing up the solo. I woke up this morning feeling a bit like a 2nd chair violinist and wrote this for all who sometimes feel the same.

Parenthetical Girls

January 7th, 2009 by J. Celestino

I came across a rather interesting band recently and I’m a little upset I missed them. It’s a really artsy, literary band and most people will consider it a little ultra-hip. I’m really enjoying the album, a few songs are hard to get through but it’s very whimsical and well orchestrated. In addition, the video for one of my favorite songs on the album, I have really come to enjoy. It’s really well shot and very simple and minimalist but very beautiful.

Baby Dayliner

November 15th, 2008 by J. Celestino

Photo by: Sarah CassA friend of mine recommended Baby Dayliner to me and now I’m hooked. Ethan Marunas has taken on the moniker of Baby Dayliner and delivered a persona that’s a throwback to Manchester and the beginnings of New Wave. Dosing heavily on Temptation era New Order Dayliner has created a fantastic haze of eyeliner music. Channeling Morrissey albeit in a skewed key way. I’d hate to say that he sings off key but he doesn’t necessarily sing on key either. The albums should be packaged with Mabaline products and promises of make-out parties. Watch the video below and make up your own mind.

Somehow

October 28th, 2008 by J. Celestino

Somehow there’s confusion amongst the people
seems to easy to steal

Somehow there’s to much eviction
actions that made men rich

Somehow there is still a decision
lingering in the heir

How can you stand there and pretend
You can’t rely on all those who don’t understand
They made a choice you robbed their voice and lead the end
We’ll stop and say, It’s all ok and raise our hand

Somehow they believe in the makeup
a perfect way to hide

Somehow there still an active recession
this one’s not a lie

Somehow there’s a question of ethics
de Tocqueville does not apply.

September29th

August 30th, 2008 by J. Celestino

So, utterly bored one day, me and my buddy Rollie decided to revive a podcast we did together called september29th named after his blog. This time however, we decided to make it video. Below is the end result. If you dig it you can subscribe via iTunes or RSS, as I’m sure this won’t be the last of them.
